Our Beginning
In 1987, the AIRLANT Wives Club recognized a critical need for scholarships within the naval aviation community. Through grassroots fundraising efforts—including bake sales and fashion shows—they awarded their first scholarships and laid the foundation for what would become a lasting legacy.
Over the past 39 years, the Foundation has grown tremendously in both scope and impact.
Today, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, Board of Directors, and staff, we have awarded more than $3.9 million in scholarships to deserving students across nearly every U.S. state and at several overseas bases.
Our scholarship programs support a wide range of educational paths, including community college, trade and technical schools, and traditional four-year colleges. We offer both annual and renewable scholarships and proudly administer scholarships on behalf of other naval aviation organizations.
Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, community service, extracurricular involvement, and character. To ensure fairness, all applications are reviewed through a blind selection process with personal information redacted.
Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
