Kara Brophy

Military Spouse | Veteran

Biography

Kara Brophy, part of a multigenerational Naval family, is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and
former Naval officer
who has spent much of her life connected to and supporting the military
community. After graduating from USNA with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, she
served as an Administrative Officer at the Naval Military Personnel Command and later as an
Aviation Supply Officer in Kingsville, Texas.

Kara and her husband, Rich, have been married since 1991 and raised five children while
navigating the many moves and transitions familiar to military families. That tradition of
service continues into the next generation, with four of their five children serving in or
alongside the military
.

Throughout more than three decades as part of the Navy community, Kara has been deeply
involved in supporting service members and their families. She has led and advised military
spouse and family organizations, volunteered with the USO and Crisis Text Line, organized and
supported community events, and contributed to numerous programs designed to strengthen
connection and support within military communities.

Kara is also a trained somatic coach, work that reflects a philosophy woven throughout her
volunteer and professional life: helping people better understand themselves, recognize their
strengths, and become more fully who they want to be. She believes strongly in the power of
education, mentorship, community, and opportunity to help individuals and families thrive.

Kara lives in Norfolk, Virginia, and is proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Wings
Over America Scholarship Foundation
, supporting its mission to expand educational
opportunities for Navy aviation families.
